Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, children of all ages —prepare yourself for stunts the likes of which you’ve never seen (or maybe you have if your pet is a real showboat). Animals big and small are all here to entertain you.
This Elephant’s Graceful and Amazing Reach for Food
This should look familiar to anyone who’s become way too comfortable on the couch. Getting up is not an option, but the bowl of chips on your table is just out of reach and, boy, is your stomach rumbling. You outstretch your arm, trying to extend your body as far as it can go. This elephant is in a similar spot when it comes to reaching for its favorite leafy greens (though this elephant is no lazy couch potato it just needs some grub). With balletic grace, the elephant extends its body forward, lifting its back leg so that its trunk can reach the branch.
Hammer, The Bowling Dog
We would definitely want Hammer on our team if we were to join a bowling league. Not only is he a sweet pup, but he bowls a mean strike. Looking back on David Letterman’s Stupid Pet Tricks segment is a gateway to many wonderful animal tricks and stunts, so please use this as an excuse to go down your own “pets doing cute, funny stuff” YouTube K-hole.
The Old Cucumber Trick
You probably saw a rash of videos in the last year documenting this phenomenon. Place a cucumber near an unsuspecting cat and they jump like never before. Does this qualify as a stunt? Hear us out. Say you were filming a cat action movie, and you needed your cat action star to do their own stunts for your big setpiece. Do you coach that cat on how to jump in all the right spots, or do you strategically deploy a cucumber to get that perfect shot? It’s a shortcut, but it sure is effective.
A Monkey Riding on Top of a Ram (On Top of A High Wire)
We have no idea where this grainy footage was taken, but as you can see, there’s a lot going on. It would be enough to have just a monkey riding on top of a ram. That’s premium entertainment. And to have just the ram walking on a high wire? Again, ticket sold. But a monkey riding a ram on top of a high wire? Usually combining great ideas comes at the expense of what made those ideas great in the first place, but in the case of this hilarious animal stunt, we have a “two great tastes that taste great together” situation on our hands.
